Bought my Moto Guzzi Nevada September 04
Been riding bikes most of my adult life. First Guzzi was a Centauro. I ride every day mostly communting round trip 130 km. Like all bikes (some more than others)
I am a second hand furniture dealer at Raymond Terrace and travel often to Sydney for stock. Have truck with a BIG tail lift so could help with that broken bike or outfit, not that Guzzis break but your other bike could.
Mostly commute on Guzz but take it out when I can. Being a shift worker this is mostly by myself. Day rides out of Brisbane are quite good. Do all the repair to Guzz myself as the Guzz is one of the easiest bikes to do but have a good network of experienced Guzz owners for backup.
Long time Guzzi fan, new Guzzi owner, lets see how the fantasy works in reality....
48 years old, have ridden around Australia on the old girl. She is about to get a face lift and a crank grind. Lent it to a bloke and it got run out of oil! Oh well that's life. She has done a sqillion miles having been ridden to and from the city every day for 8 years. She really is a part of the family and these days she is about as much power as I can handle! Now a 1000 with nikasil bores and hand made stainless pipes. Painted in black and gold as per limited edition sold in the UK a many years ago. I was also a founder member of the Victorian Guzzi club a lot of years ago when we first started meeting in a pub in Richmond with Fast Eddie, Rat, Strap and Bruce Hawksworth. Was involved in setting up the first Guzzi club rallys when they were held 30 km out of Porpunkah in northern Victoria.
Had Bikes since I could walk. Guzzi bike no 23. Previous bikes: Heaps of dirt bikes. Road bikes: XS750 x 2, GS550, SS900, V50 Monza, Fatboy. Present: California Special 2001. Single parent, working, studying and trying to fit in riding.
Toured Australia and made the pilgrimage to Mandello del Lario
Started riding when I was a kid at local agricultural shows on Honda 50cc minibike rides. First bike was a Lambretta scooter bought from a mate for $25. Licensed in 1974. First road bike - Kawasaki 350 S2 triple. Owned mostly Honda 750 Fours after. Built a Yoshi 900 from an ex police 750 Four. Last Honda was a 1981 CB750KZ - last of the four pipers. Married in 1984 no bike, built 2 kids. Divorced, kept kids, remarried, built 1 more kid (kept the recipe). Got new wife, now needed to cement marriage with new bike. Wanted to go European this time. Choices were between Triumph Speed Triple and V11 Sport. Decision Point: Triumph dealer was closed 1st week of Jan 2003 and Guzzi dealer was open - SOLD!
