bikes: Guzzi SP 1000 bitsa and an old Ducati bevel shitbox

Having grown up in eastern suburbs of Sydney fangin' around on RZ 250s, a good mate and I started to develop an interest in old Italian bikes. My mate then got a Pantah 600 which I lusted over and the Italian twin bug bit deep and hard. 1 or 2 years later I moved overseas for a while and ended up with a 650 Pantah of my own. My good old mate also moved over and found a V7 sport in a chair shop for 5000 bucks. I then bought a 900SS bevel and we went on many a trip all over Europe, but I was always impressed and slightly jealous of that Guzzi, which was just so beautiful and absolutely trouble free for old mate. We did a few trips to Mugello always via Mandello del Lario and the following and resources for the old Guzzis was just astounding. I really felt that bevel Dukes kinda had become a rich mans wank toy and there just wasnt that comunity as there is with Guzzi, so upon returning I searched casually for something suitable to turn up and bought an old junker SP 1000 which I am in the process of hotting up a bit and cannot wait to ride.

I've been riding on and off since I was 17 but unfortunately not much in recent years until I semi-retired two years ago. I got the Honda as I liked the style but I found it a bit heavy for the old body to manoeuvre in and out of the shed, so decided on something lighter. I tried a friends Moto Guzzi while in UK and loved it, hence the V7 Classic. It looks good and is great to ride.

I've just got my Eldorado which I bought in Florida and rode 10000 kays across to LA in April. It's a civilian model complete with the classic fairing and panniers and it was a great thing to have on those interstates.

I've owned this bike for 24 years. I gave it a rebuild about 10 yr ago including 36mm pumps , ground cam and sports exhaust made to spec by sheetmetal worker. I have just given her a 35,000 major birthday and added a set of fully adjustable handlebars off a Laverda Jota, and she does look the part. Makes me feel like I'm 21 again!

I live in the county (hobby farm near port Macquarie) and work on rotation overseas (oil/gas). The Oxley hwy is in my backyard basically. Yahoo. I have had various rides over the years, but drifted away from riding due to overseas work. I have only in the last 3 years got back in the saddle again, after what now seems a lifetime out of it (the saddle that is).
I came across an only ridden on weekends Triumph T595 Daytona. This whet my appetite again, then I fell head over heels for the 2010SE Griso. I just can't get enough of that bike!! So now it looks like Im starting a stable. The wife's got horses, so why not? I Look forward to a long and lasting relationship with one of the jewels of the Guzzi world.

After owning many motorcycles over the years, including a few BMs, it was time to take the plunge. I had a few issues, which are pretty well sorted now, and it is a fantastic bike. Where I live, it is just so easy to get out on the open road and drop into the small towns dotted throuhout central Victoria. The ride is just great. The bike is black with the gold contrast fuel tank, has leather panniers and large windscreen.

I live in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. I've been riding since I was 17 years old. I have had bevel Ducati for 10 years. I just bought LeMans 850 in 2010 (imported it from UK). I also bought RS250 stroker for track days - I was worried about blowing up my bevel drive Duke...

I started riding in the '70 (Suzi 180). I had a hiatus while world-wandering several years - DT250 &aamp; 400/4 in '77 - a new CX500 (the poor man's Guzzi) in '78 till it broke so I couldn't fix it & run the business too in the late 80's(?). I have a bit more time now, so the Bullet, and while it's off the road, the V7C. The CX (& a pranged one) are deteriorating in storage till I get a shed. It's magic back on 2 wheels. Other than the bikes, interests are camping (motorcycle & ultralight), cooking, gardening for the kitchen, coffee & tea.
