Have had the LeMans since 1987 after selling my first Guzzi monza in 1983 when I got married. Bought another Monza at the beginning of 2000 as I saw it for sale. Have purchased parts to tune and do up but have not done anything as I want to sell the LeMans and buy a California of some description but cant seem to find a dealer with a variety of stock so at least the wife and daughter can choose a nice colour so my purchase is easier. If anyone can assist in this regard it would be appreciated. The last time I registered on the net I received a lot of various Guzzi technical information. It may be easier to advertise it in the trading post.

Lemans is much modified. Full fairing, titanium rods, 41mm flatside carbs, adjustable clip-ons, new springs, new rear shocks, et al. It's a bit tatty, a bit unreliable, runs on Mobil synthetic quite ok, but it oozes charm and character and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. I finished building my chop. in '88 and rode it till my spine just coulndn't handle it no more. A mate had a Guzzi 850T. I really liked it, so bought it off him in '94. A motor rebuild was done in '97 and I have since done heaps of more comfortable miles round New Zealand. The other Yam. is a recent addition and just a bit of a toy.

The LeMans is heavily modified, and raced with the support of Team Stranglers Racing and Tom from Don Newell Motorcycles. Sports a Ducati SD fairing, NSR250 seat, Guzzi CR Box, Twin Plug heads, Dyna Ign, braced swing arm, 38 mm Marzocchi Forks, Daytona flywheel, 40 mm carbs, 950 kit ported head, Doctor John replica exhaust, hyd clutch, Tardozzi rearsets, Linked brakes have been ditched for a conventional set up, running braided lines. The Cali is standard, and forced the regrettable sale of my NTX650 of 10 years.

I am a slightly crazed ex-school teacher cum coffee shop owner. Since obtaining my motorbike licence at 59 I have had a succession of unusual bikes - an Enfield bullet, a Yahama goldwing (specially imported for the Queen's first vist to Australia) and more recently my Guzzi. It is in the slow process of being rebuilt to orginal specs whilst still being my primary form of transport.
